Who We Are

Children’s Autism Center was founded by a small group of dedicated parents and staff members who wanted to improve the lives of others. Our passion continues today and defines who we are and what we do.

When a parent discovered in the late 1990s that ABA therapy improved the behavior and increased multiple domains of skills in her son who had been diagnosed with autism, she decided to share the therapy — and her Chicago-based BCBA — with more parents. Together, they hired staff who dedicated their lives to this work.

Several years later, in 2005, this group became the non-profit, Children’s Autism Center. Our goal to provide ABA therapy services to every child in need. Besides the center, home, community, and school-based services, our goal is to train parents to implement these ABA strategies with their child, regardless of their ability to pay. To date, CAC staff have served hundreds of children in Northeast Indiana.

Our Purpose

To improve the lives of others.
This core purpose defines every
business decision we make.

Our Core Values

We know it is critical to provide the highest-quality, most-effective treatment to your child as efficiently as possible. Our ABA therapy is a journey, with the parents alongside as the most valuable member of the team. We work together in determining the priority level of skill acquisition and behavior management, a process that takes knowledge, patience, and consistency.

At Children’s Autism Center, you will find a team dedicated to improving your child’s life along with the lives of your family. While we focus on remediating the symptoms of autism, our secondary goal is to equip you with the skills you need to teach your child across every environment, the two of you encounter.

Our mission: “Children’s Autism Center provides the highest-quality, medically supported therapy to children of all ages with autism and developmental/language delays in Northeast Indiana. Children’s Autism Center strives to maintain a tuition assistance fund so that all children with a need for services may benefit, regardless of ability to pay.”

Our Values

CAC is embarking on an exciting journey as an organization fully aligned with its values. Our staff at each location are engaged in the process of merging values in theory and in practice.

Excellent Care — we are committed to providing your child and family with the highest quality, most effective care that we can. Dr. Becky and her team are at the front of our field in terms of bringing research into practice in order to benefit your child.

Integrity — we say what we mean and do what we say. We stay in integrity with our actions by treating each other with respect and by providing the care that we say that we will.

Discretionary Effort — this means that we do the small (and big) things to take care of each other. This could be vacuuming up after a session or sharing notes of appreciation. We all feel cared for and appreciated when we each do a little every day.

Wellness of Staff — it is important that staff care for themselves first to provide the highest quality care for your child. We support staff in separating work life from home life and in having time to re-fuel themselves.

Session Fulfillment — our service is predicated on a prescription of care for your child. We are committed to filling the sessions we prescribe. Our HR department is continually assessing our staffing needs to hire values-aligned staff to fulfill the needs of all of the children and young adults in our care.

Continuous Learning — we are more well-rounded as people when we commit to continuous learning. It does not matter whether we learn to make cake or fly a plane, we are committed to expanding our skill sets.

A values-aligned organization is one that leads with its values. We are committed to remaining a positive, mission-minded, and focused organization with healthy, well-balanced staff. In taking care of our staff, we believe your child, and our staff, will benefit.
